CBR: coming home safely

Assessing the driving proficiency and medical fitness of drivers, as well as the professional competence of experts in the transport and logistics sector: this is the task entrusted to the CBR by the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management. In this way, the CBR stimulates the mobility of individual citizens and makes a significant contribution to road safety in the Netherlands, both today and tomorrow. In doing so, it strives for smooth, customer-friendly, and professional service delivery.

Road safety

The CBR is a national organization with a head office in Rijswijk and more than 50 examination locations across the country. it carries out its mandate with 1,200 dedicated colleagues. They are highly aware of their great responsibility. They stand, first and foremost, for the public interest of road safety. At the same time, they understand how important mobility is for the individual citizen or professional they assess.

Ready for the future

With the rise of all new technologies, our work is expected to change more in the next ten years than it has in the past ninety. Consider the rise of truck platooning or the development of self-driving cars. To prepare our organization for that future, we updated our mission in 2017: Coming home safely, through informing, testing, and monitoring. With this, we are broadening our focus from testing driving proficiency to promoting road safety. This requires more than what we do now: in addition to 'testing' – our core task – we will therefore also actively inform our customers and track and adjust driver behavior (monitoring).
