Top Sector Logistics

The global demand for the transport of goods is growing strongly. At the same time, customers are placing increasingly high demands on the quality of transport. The number of kilometers per truck is expected to double over the next ten years. This expectation provides both the reason and the necessity to develop new, innovative logistics concepts, for example, aimed at a higher load factor for vessels and vehicles. This enables the transport sector to operate more cost-efficiently, makes better use of infrastructure, and contributes to the further sustainability of the logistics and transport sector. The ambition for the Logistics Top Sector is to ensure that by 2020 the Netherlands holds an international top position (1) in the handling of goods flows, (2) as a chain director of (inter)national logistics activities, and (3) as a country with an attractive innovation and business climate for the shipping and logistics industry.
