The Municipality of Tilburg works together with residents, entrepreneurs, and other authorities on the ambition to make mobility in Tilburg smarter, healthier, and safer. This ambition will be further developed in the 2040 Mobility Plan in 2016.

With over 200,000 inhabitants, Tilburg is the 6th largest city in the Netherlands. Following the decline of the textile and wool industry, the city has developed strongly, partly in the transport and logistics sector. We want to strengthen this position. A sustainable approach is our starting point in this regard. The Lean & Green approach therefore particularly appeals to us. For us as a municipality, improving air quality is of even greater importance than the reduction of CO2 emissions.

The measures we take relate on the one hand to facilitating sustainable supply and logistics, and on the other to encouraging companies to work sustainably.

Broadly speaking, three types of measures are being taken in Tilburg:

  • Measures to improve city center supply (infrastructure, (de)regulation, flexibilization, cooperation, access to information)
  • Infrastructural measures (Dynamic traffic management, infrastructure construction)
  • Incentive measures, for example for the purchase of electric delivery vehicles.
