Municipality of Utrecht

For several years now, Utrecht has been a model municipality regarding its focus on freight transport.

This concerns the supply of the city center, construction logistics, and freight transport to and from business parks such as Lage Weide, which features one of the largest inland ports in the Netherlands. Collaboration with the business community is an essential part of this success. All policies and projects are developed in cooperation with local business and retailers' associations and with parties such as TLN, EVO, Port of Utrecht, and the Chamber of Commerce.

We are joining forces and working together to find solutions to make freight transport in the city more efficient and sustainable and to increase multimodality. The aim is to minimize detours, traffic congestion, or excessive dwell times in the city, as well as to minimize nuisance and irritation for drivers, residents, and shoppers. Only a collective effort yields more than the sum of its parts. Good accessibility and better air quality, energy savings and a livable city—that is what we are all about.
