Port of Rotterdam Authority: for the port of today and tomorrow

At the Port of Rotterdam Authority, 1,100 passionate professionals work on ideas for the port of today and tomorrow. The goal is to develop the smartest, most sustainable, and most accessible logistics hub in Europe, where there is room for (inter)national companies to establish themselves and grow. The Port Authority therefore develops and leases port sites. At the same time, it is responsible for the safe, smooth, clean, and secure handling of shipping. In this way, the Port Authority offers companies everything needed for the safe, smooth transit and production of goods and raw materials. It maintains a continuous focus on the quality of the working and living environment. At the Port Authority, driven people realize boundless ambitions. Together, they are creating the world's smartest port.

Every year, approximately 30,000 seagoing vessels and 105,000 inland vessels call at Rotterdam. Shipping traffic is monitored and guided by radar. On the water, patrol boats equipped with firefighting equipment, among other things, keep a watchful eye. And they do so 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, the Port Authority has an inspection service to closely monitor the transport of hazardous substances.

The Port Authority, together with companies in the port, is constantly looking for ways to make the port even smarter. This includes even faster transport of goods by sharing information about ships, quays, containers, trains, etc., earlier. Safety and environmental awareness are central to the Port Authority.
