sCOOL2walk is a mobility concept focused on encouraging active, safe, and sustainable school travel.

By allowing children to walk to school together in an organized manner, sCOOL2walk helps schools, municipalities, and parents reduce traffic congestion around schools while simultaneously promoting physical activity and independence in children.

The concept works with fixed walking routes through the neighborhood, similar to a bus line with stops and a clear departure time. Children join at a meeting point along the way and walk to school together, often accompanied by a parent or volunteer. This creates a social and safe alternative to individual school runs by car. Less car traffic around schools contributes directly to a safer school environment, lower emissions, and a more pleasant living environment in the neighborhood.

sCOOL2walk is set up in collaboration with schools, municipalities, and local partners. Routes are carefully selected based on road safety, clear crossings, and logical meeting points in the neighborhood. Through a combination of practical organization, communication with parents, and local involvement, a scalable approach is created that can easily be applied in different municipalities.

In addition to the walking version, sCOOL2walk also offers a cycling version. This version targets children who live a bit further from school and encourages them to cycle to school together. Just like the walking routes, fixed cycling routes and meeting points are organized, with attention paid to road safety and cycling skills.

By facilitating active travel to school, sCOOL2walk contributes to several social goals simultaneously: healthier children, safer school environments, and less car traffic in residential areas.
