The Transport Engineering and Management group at the University of Twente is a member of Connekt.

In terms of education, we offer the Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and the Master's in Civil Engineering and Management. The latter consists of various tracks, including two profiles in the field of mobility. One profile is more oriented toward spatial (geo) sciences, while the other leans toward industrial engineering and management. Significant attention is given to mathematical optimization and the use of data. Furthermore, throughout our entire curriculum and research, there is a strong focus on smart mobility, consistently maintaining a robust link to ICT. This applies in principle to all modes of transport. Our research is also part of the Digital Society Institute at the University of Twente.

In recent years, a significant amount of research capacity and funding has been directed toward automated driving, and this subject will certainly remain relevant. More generally, the use of sensors—and consequently all types of data—is becoming increasingly important. We are gaining better insights into, for example, freight flows, as well as the behavior of vehicles and travelers. With these insights, ICT offers opportunities for improved management, such as using better predictions to intervene more promptly. It also allows for providing incentives to travelers to adapt their behavior. We are emphatically committed to improving the traffic and transport system through the application of ICT. This involves all modes of transport, including both cars and public transport, with a recent and explicit increase in focus on cycling.
