Cybersecurity Act approaching: what does this mean for ITS service providers?

Published on June 19, 2026

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has shared new information regarding the upcoming Cybersecurity Act (Cbw). This law is relevant for a large part of the Connekt network, particularly for ITS service providers.

The Cbw is currently being considered by the Senate. Depending on the decision-making process, the law could enter into force on August 15, 2026 at the earliest.

What does this mean in practice?

As soon as the law comes into effect, organizations covered by the Cbw must immediately comply with the associated obligations. This includes, among other things:

  • compliance with the Cybersecurity Act, the Cybersecurity Decree, and the implementation regulations
  • mandatory registration with the National Cyber Security Centre (see: NCSC)
  • a reporting obligation and support from the NCSC in the event of cyber incidents

For organizations that fall within the scope, it is important to prepare for this in a timely manner.

Draft documents available

To help parties prepare, the following draft documents can be consulted:

Please note: these documents are not yet final. The final versions are the documents formally established after consideration in the Senate, signing, and publication. No rights can be derived from the draft documents.

In-depth study and exchange

This year, Connekt is organizing several meetings regarding the Cbw in collaboration with IenW. During these meetings, we will work with the network to address the practical impact of the law and what it means for organizations. The first meeting took place on May 27 last. This webinar on the Cybersecurity Act can be viewed here: Cbw webinar May 27, 2026.

During the CyberSim Executive Edition on October 16 next, for example, you will work on the most important issues surrounding cybersecurity in a compact and dynamic setting, together with other decision-makers from the network. Not from a theoretical perspective, but by experiencing it yourself. Read more here and sign up!

More information about the other meetings on September 22, November 12, and December 15 next will follow soon; keep an eye on our agenda.
