Training: Gaining Control over Costs in Transport and Logistics | October 2 and November 26
"Margins in transport and logistics are under significant pressure," observes Dominique Bolier. "As a result, it is more important than ever for companies to calculate their cost prices accurately. To make responsible choices and investments, insight into the Total Cost of Ownership and financial KPIs is indispensable." This is why Dominique provides the practical training: Gaining Control over Costs in Transport and Logistics – for anyone who wants to gain more insight into the figures behind their own work. Even if you do not consider yourself a "numbers person."
Who is it for?
The training is intended for anyone working in transport or logistics who wants to learn more about the financial side of the profession: cost price calculations, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and how these impact costs and revenues. A financial background is not required.
"Managers, coordinators, and operational staff can join, but also, for example, people in commercial roles or planners who want to grow in their careers," says Dominique. "What participants particularly appreciate is that we work with many examples from the transport and logistics sector and practical exercises. These are simply situations that everyone recognizes from their own work. After just one day, you will have concrete tools that you can apply immediately."
Cost Price
The training lasts one day. "In the morning, we dive into the cost price," Dominique explains. "How is it structured? What costs does it consist of? What influence do different decisions have? And what can you do yourself to save costs or increase revenues? We also consider overhead costs and how they affect your budget. And, of course, we get to work practically with cost price and overhead calculations."
Total Cost of Ownership
"After lunch, we start with the Total Cost of Ownership. Because what does something really cost when you look at its entire lifespan? Take an entrepreneur who purchases an electric truck: that is a significant investment. Together, we calculate whether that electric truck is truly so much more expensive than a fossil-fuel variant. What are the costs over, for example, seven years, and what is the difference compared to a traditional truck?"
KPIs
"Then we go deeper into financial KPIs and the factors that influence them," Dominique continues. "How do you make better decisions using figures and KPIs? For example, we look at how you can handle costs more consciously. What can you do differently in your work as soon as tomorrow? During a previous training session, a participant said: 'I now have specific points I want to discuss with my manager because I think things can be done differently.' That is, of course, fantastic to see."
Added Value
"Before the training begins, we conduct an intake interview," Dominique concludes. "In this, we explain what the training is about and get an idea of the participants. Depending on the composition and knowledge level of the group, we refine the content so that the training provides real added value for everyone."
