YNOT session: Mobility in area development - from conceptual framework to practice | May 22, 2026

This event is organized by Connekt (YNOT) in collaboration with Provincie Overijssel, Movares and &Morgen.

How do you ensure that mobility is properly anchored in area development from the very beginning? We are facing a massive housing challenge, but having two cars in every driveway simply no longer fits (nor is it necessary). Area development is the ideal moment to integrate mobility: from the drawing board, during construction, and in the phase where residents actually move in.

Well-designed mobility contributes to neighborhoods where people want to live: with more space for greenery, physical activity, and social interaction. In practice, however, it appears that the provision of information and the availability of sustainable mobility options for residents of new neighborhoods can still be improved. Especially in outlying areas, where facilities are less self-evident. It is precisely there that there is room for new, out-of-the-box ideas.

What will you be doing?

During this interactive afternoon, you will work in groups on a conceptual framework for mobility and area development. You will first explore the challenge and potential solutions broadly, and then work towards concrete, innovative ideas for practice.

We challenge you to think outside the box. The afternoon will conclude with pitches, an award ceremony, and drinks, providing plenty of opportunity to share ideas and meet new people.
