Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) is among the most prominent container terminal operators in Europe. At the strategically located terminals on the Maasvlakte, containers are efficiently loaded and unloaded using advanced, largely automated systems. However, ECT's service extends much further than the quayside alone.
connECTed: The power of an integrated chain
Through Hutchison Ports Europe Intermodal (HPEI), ECT offers a comprehensive network of inland shipping and rail connections to various (partly owned) inland terminals in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. This creates a fully integrated logistics chain that seamlessly connects the seaport with the hinterland. To optimally support this physical flow, the digital platform MyTerminal provides customers with real-time and predictive information about containers and modalities. This enables them to accurately align schedules and logistical processes.
All these elements come together in ECT's 'connECTed strategy': forging physical terminal activities, intermodal transport, and digital information provision into a single coherent and future-proof logistics system.
Collaborating on the challenges of tomorrow
The logistics sector faces complex challenges that no single party can solve alone. To strengthen the sector as a whole, ECT focuses on integrated chain solutions. The focus here is on sustainability and electrification, further digitalization, and optimizing logistical efficiency, such as improving accessibility and utilizing existing capacity.
Collaboration with shipping lines, carriers, hinterland partners, and the government is crucial to realizing these ambitions. Only by working together can a reliable, sustainable, and well-functioning chain be guaranteed.
