The Netherlands ‘preferred choice’ candidate-host country European ITS Congress 2019

(ENG) The ERTICO – ITS Europe Supervisory Board indicated Brainport Eindhoven as “preferred choice” candidate to host the ITS European Congress 2019. The announcement was done after a selection process in which submissions of different cities in Europe were considered. The choice was made on the basis of the recommendation of the European Selection Committee which reviewed all submissions.

Now the final negotiation process with Brainport Eindhoven will start, and, if successful, this will lead to final appointment. As soon as this is formalized, the official communication on the selected City hosting the ITS European Congress 2019 will be done

First reaction
The Dutch partners are happy with the decision of the ITS Europe Supervisory Board.
“This announcement is a recognition of the progressive role the Netherlands plays in the development and employment of ITS and Smart Mobility,” says Nico Anten, managing director Connekt.

“We perceive this choice both as a reward for the role of the the Netherlands in the development and deployment of ITS, and as a result of the perfect collaboration between all private and public partners anticipating our bid to ERTICO. We are confident that the negotiations lead to the final positive choice,” says Gert Blom, Innovation manager ITS of the city of Helmond & BrabantStad, who on behalf of the organizing parties in the Netherlands will try to bring the final negotiations to a satisfying conclusion.

(NL) De ITS Europe Supervisory Board van ERTICO heeft Brainport Eindhoven aangewezen als “preferred choice” kandidaat om het Europese ITS Congres 2019 te hosten. Aan de toewijzing ging een selectieproces vooraf waarin inzendingen door verschillende steden in Europa zijn beoordeeld. De keuze is gemaakt op aanbeveling van de Europese Selectie Commissie, die alle inzendingen heeft onderzocht.

Dat betekent dat het onderhandelingsproces met Brainport Eindhoven nu start. Wanneer dit succesvol verloopt, leidt dit tot vastlegging. Zodra dit bekend is zal een officiële aankondiging worden gedaan over het gastheerschap van het ITS European Congress 2019.

De Nederlandse partners zijn erg blij met de beslissing van de ITS Europe Supervisory Board.

“De toewijzing is een erkenning voor de vooruitstrevende rol die Nederland vervult bij de ontwikkeling en toepassing van ITS en Smart Mobility,” zegt Nico Anten, managing director Connekt.

“Wij zien de beslissing niet alleen als een beloning voor de rol van Nederland bij de ontwikkeling en uitrol van ITS, maar ook als resultaat van de perfecte samenwerking tussen alle private en publieke partners ter voorbereiding op het bid aan ERTICO. De onderhandelingen met uiteindelijk de definitieve toewijzing zien we dan ook met vertrouwen tegemoet,” zegt Gert Blom, Innovatie manager ITS bij de gemeente Helmond & BrabantStad, die namens de organiserende partijen in Nederland de finale besprekingen met ERTICO de komende weken tot een goed einde zal proberen te brengen.

Binnen Brabant werken overheden en bedrijven samen als Smart Mobility Region. Met de mobiliteitsconsument als centrale spil werkt Brabant aan een netwerk van slimme mobiliteitsoplossingen die de bereikbaarheid, leefbaarheid en veiligheid verhogen.
