Kunnen jullie in de vorm van een elevator pitch uitleggen wat het CfH en ICON doen?
Het Centre for the Humanities (CfH) van de Universiteit Utrecht richt haar activiteiten op de maatschappelijke impact van het geesteswetenschappelijke onderzoek. Zij fungeert als discussieplatform en makelaar om onderzoeksactiviteiten te relateren aan maatschappelijke impact.
In het Instituut voor Cultuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (ICON) van de Universiteit Utrecht wordt onderzoek gedaan naar verschillende facetten van de rol van kunst, cultuur en media in de hedendaagse maatschappij.
Op welke dienst/welk project zijn het CfH en ICON het meest trots als het gaat om smart, sustainable en social mobility?

Op welke thema’s komen de andere Connektleden jullie tegen?
Op het thema Datafied Society. Over dit thema bestaat binnen ICON een onderzoeksplatform.
Datafied Society is a research platform in Utrecht for investigating the impact of datafication on society. The datafication of urban space, its residents and their public sphere is shaping a new dimension of public governance and management that exceeds the traditional scope of data collection and data analyses (Meijer 2016). Datafication profoundly transforms the citizens’ relationship to societal institutions such as public governance and management and media. These processes have profound implications for organisational processes within municipalities, for the daily lives of individual residents, and for the self-understanding of an urban community as a whole.
Een ander onderzoeksplatform binnen ICON is urban interfaces.
Urban interfaces is a platform for a critical investigation of urban interfaces for creative and participatory engagement at the crossing of academic research and cultural practices. Focusing on mobile and situated media, arts, and performances, the platform brings together and initiates critical reflections on, and actual interventions in, these socio-spatial activities and their shaping and staging of urban culture. Urban interfaces collaborates with an expanding (international) network of academic and cultural partners.
ICON participeert ook in het Utrecht Center for Game Research. The Utrecht Center for Game Research is founded by the game-related teaching and research groups at Utrecht University to contribute to global trends towards gaming for training and entertainment. Games play an increasingly important role in economic, cultural, and societal sectors. Games allow users to practice, play, experiment, research, and learn in a safe and motivating environment. Utrecht Center for Game Research reinforces and expands the scope, quality, volume, and impact of the research at Utrecht University that is related to games, gaming, game technology, and gamification.
