“Urban transport within the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region must be emission-free by 2025”. This is one of the ambitions that the Amsterdam Economic Board is working to achieve. Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is one of the key areas on which attention is being focused to make this a reality.

We are moving towards a digital service for travelers where ‘smart agents’ offer customized journeys by bicycle, train, tram/metro, shared car and taxi and respond in real time to personal needs and preferences.

Series of meetings
There is still relatively little awareness, both nationally and within the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region (AMR), of the developments taking place in the area of MaaS, and it is still a challenge for parties within the region to make contact with each other. To speed up the adoption of MaaS in the region, the Board is organizing a series of five meetings, during which we will invite mobility providers, employers, public authorities, service providers, knowledge institutions, interest groups and technology partners to contribute their ideas and help accelerate the process.

MaaS Meetup #1: “Zuidas aan de MaaS Living Lab”
The first Meetup will be taking place on Wednesday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at Spaces Zuidas and will consist of three parts:

  • MaaS in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region: what is the state of play? With Robert Scheerder (Integraal Sustainable Transitions/Climate-KIC)
  • “Zuidas aan de MaaS Living Lab” What developments will play a role in terms of the accessibility of the Zuidas district and what opportunities will they present? With Stephan van Dijk (AMS Institute)
  • Discussion: have your say and contribute your ideas on how we can speed up the process; how can we ensure that MaaS gains a foothold in the AMR? When will MaaS be a success in the AMR and how can we reach this point?
