28 April – 17:00 – 17:45 (CET)
On April 28th the Smart Mobility Embassy will bring together experts to discuss a common challenge: How do we organize the implementation of mobility hubs in our cities?
Multimodal transportation has become a dominant trend in our mobility systems. Mobility hubs aim to offer improved transportation experiences for travellers, cities, and private service operators.
Travellers will have new transportation options available which improves convenience and lowers cost of using shared mobility services. Municipalities are able to improve air quality, accelerate decarbonisation of local transportation, reduce congestion, and revitalise city centres. Private operators benefit from the high concentration of demand for services and the raised profile of their service in the mobility mix.
But where do we position the mobility hubs in our cities and how is the supply matching the local demand? How do municipalities guarantee that mobility is offered in the longer term by private parties?
Furthermore, trials still fail commercially once public funding ends. Developing a sustainable business model has proven hard to ensure longevity of mobility hubs.
- We will discuss the possibilities to create sustainable hubs that are future-proof.
- We will share how public–private collaboration is an important factor to create a framework and conditions to make mobility accessible for everyone.
- We share different perspectives, get to know each other’s motivations and point of view. That may be a worthwhile starting point.
About the Smart Mobility Embassy
The corona virus has put us into a world lockdown. However, we can digitally connect with almost the entire world. Reaching further has never been this easy.
When we work together with other countries, we do what we have done for decades. We go on trade missions and search for opportunities, build relationships and do business together. This is a very successful strategy and a great opportunity to showcase a country’s unique proposition.
But it is time for a different approach! What if we can join forces, not based on our nationality but on our common purpose. A world where mobility means affordable access for all, with zero missions and without casualties.
We want to create opportunities that did not exist yesterday. We bring people, knowledge and expertise from different organizations and countries together. By having an international community, every challenge is tackled from different perspectives encouraging creative approaches and solutions. Therefore, the Mobility Embassy is creating new pies that can only be cashed in by working together.
