It has emerged from previous tests both in the Netherlands and outside that even if all the links are functioning entirely in line with applicable agreements, standards and regulations, it is still possible that the chain will not work correctly. The eCall chain consists of a large number of technical components that can be influenced by external factors, but that can also influence one another and each have their own risk of failure. The aim of the new test is to closely examine the functioning of eCall throughout the chain, with a focus on the call back function, thereby also considering such issues as hardware and software configuration of the components in question, including the IVS.

The new test, in combination with an initial investigation, aims to provide an answer questions relating to the routing of eCall calls and the call back functionality of IVS systems.

Meanwhile, together with the 112 alarm center in Driebergen, a date has been set for the third national test moment of the eCall system: the following test day will take place on Wednesday 30 October 2019 with an optional extension to 31 October 2019.
